Challenge

New expansion plans to increase capacity for a multinational pharmaceutical company in France meant that it was difficult to invest in a high efficiency and precise air conditioning system for their production process. They needed to find a way to focus capital expenditure on the site construction while budgeting for a fixed manageable equipment cost.

One high performance RTAF air-cooled screw chiller was installed along with two Air Handling Units (AHUs). AHUs are the ideal companions for a chiller. They cool the air using cold water with great flexibility and scalability. At the same time, AHUs control airborne pathogens and dust through air filtration, control space pressure, and maintain temperature and humidity.

An efficiency plan was also implemented to minimise energy consumption and reduce costs. The Trane team installed a heat recovery system on the exhaust air-handling unit allowing to maintain the blowing temperature in winter.

Finally, Trane provides all cleaning and maintenance operations that represent a major aspect of any pharmaceutical plant.
