Avoiding heat stress for healthcare

Challenge

The public hospital was challenged to provide enough cooling in the different wards during the hot summer season. The hospital could not compromise patient and staff comfort, and rescheduling surgeries or sending patients to other locations for treatment were not available options.

To provide quality care and prevent loss of revenues, the healthcare facility sought to acquire a reliable solution for additional cooling capacity over a temporary period.

Solution

The Italian hospital selected Trane Rental Services to provide a full turnkey short-term rental solution. The local Trane expert sales engineers first completed an assessment of the supplementary cooling needs before designing the best rental solution.

1700 kW of additional cooling power were delivered, installed and commissioned including two Trane Sintesis Prime RTAF chillers, 500 metres of flexible pipes and two external water pumps. 

Results

The implemented rental solution helped the Italian hospital maintain optimal temperature control in the different facility areas throughout the hot summer months. Their number one priority was the care and comfort of patients. Trane helped them achieve their objectives at competitive costs.
